PRograde Digital Serial Number Registration
ProGrade Digital laser-etches a serial number on the back of every card and printed on every reader as another step in our quality control process. The serial number allows us to identify every component of the card including the memory, controller, firmware and manufacturing date. If ProGrade Digital discovers that a new camera, or a new firmware update on an existing camera, causes any issue with our cards we can identify that by the serial number(s) registered in our system.

Serial Number FAQ
Why would I need to update the firmware on my card?
Camera manufacturers often update the firmware on their cameras to provide enhanced features or higher codecs for video recording. These updates can cause problems with memory cards since these features were not available at the time the card was manufactured. In addition, ProGrade Digital is continually making improvements to products through the normal course of our product development. We want to make these improvements available to all our customers.
How does my firmware get updated; can I download the update to my computer?
Unfortunately, memory card firmware updates do not work like camera firmware updates, they can not be done by the user. Customers can pay to ship their cards to ProGrade Digital and ProGrade Digital will pay to ship the card back.
Is there a charge to update the firmware on my card?
No, there is no charge to update the firmware. ProGrade Digital provides this service for free.
How long does the process take?
The process can take up to 7-10 days once the cards are received by ProGrade Digital. We strive to make this process as quick as possible so you can keep shooting!
What happens if I have images on my card(s)?
You should back up any images on your cards prior to sending them to ProGrade Digital. The firmware update process will erase any data on the card and ProGrade Digital is not responsible for the loss of any images.
